What Happens Now?

All new athletes will be required to register as a part of the Academy using our Coacha software. An account will be generated and an email invitation sent which will enable parents to complete essential information regarding the athlete. It also allows the parents to choose which monthly fees subscription they require for the athlete.

Coacha is also the platform used for booking 1-2-1s and Guest Coach workshops. This is also where absences should be recorded.

Presentation

How a cheerleader looks and presents themselves is as important as the routine being completed.

Therefore we encourage the correct standards of presentation at training sessions..

All jewellery should be removed and hair should be tied up out of the face.

Spirit

A cheerleaders ‘spirit’ is always taken into consideration during competitions and a team can gain points or have points deducted based on this. Therefore we ask all athletes to be kind and supportive of one another. Any form of bullying by athletes or parents will not be tolerated.

Try-Outs

Tryouts are mandatory for any athlete who wishes to be placed on a competition squad. Tryouts are not to decide whether an athlete should be placed on a team, but to determine which team they should be placed on.

Footwear

The shoes should be plain black, have a flexible sole, be reasonably light weight and have a soft, padded sole to cushion the impact on your feet as you jump and move about.

If you would like to purchase Cheer specific footwear, we recommend Nfinity Flytes which can be purchased via the Power Nation website.

Practice

All athletes will be taught and be developing a wide range of new skills. Whilst we appreciate that it is not practical for them to be completing tumbles within a busy household, we try to encourage the athletes to practice wherever they can, providing videos of their progress to the coaches.

Squad Placement

Your athlete will be given a role best suited to their skills and what they can offer to the team as a whole. This may not be the role they want or think they should have. Head Coach Nikki will place each athlete to create the most competitive team set-ups and where athletes will have the best experience of the season

Training Kit

Clothes should not restrict movement and should allow the athlete to move freely. We encourage all athletes to wear the Wildcatz Warriors Cheerleading Academy training uniform or plain black shorts with the Season 3 t-shirt.

All Wildcatz merchandise can be purchased via your Coacha account

Discipline

Please understand that on occasion, if your child misbehaves, no matter how out of character, we will need to correct them.

Disruptive behaviour will affect the entire team and can cause accidents to occur.

Expectations

Attendance

If an athlete is missing from a session this will impact the whole squad, as stunts will not be able to be practiced and routines will need to be repeated unnecessarily. We understand that sometimes, missing training is inevitable but please try and keep this to a minimum, particularly in the run up to competing.

We offer a “3 strikes” policy. A missed training session during our “Red Zone” (8 weeks prior to comp) will result in a notification of a “strike” having been issued by email. Once 3 strikes have been issued, the athlete will be removed from the competition squad.

During Competition season we require that all athletes attend ALL scheduled training sessions.

If an athlete is ill we require that it is logged onto your Coacha account as soon as you are aware that your athlete will not be attending training.

Competitions

Any competing athletes will be expected to wear the Wildcatz Warriors Cheerleading Academy competition uniform and bow. All entry/spectator fees will be funded by the athlete or personal fundraising. All athletes will be responsible for making their way to and from the competition venue.

Commitment

Dedication to the sport, a commitment to practice each week, and being a team player are all fundamentals of cheerleading.

Cheerleaders are dedicated to the sport of cheerleading and it being seen as such to the public. Members are not chosen based on popularity, attractiveness, or familial status but on the skill they can offer the squad. Squad members are athletes in every sense of the word and work hard to dispel any biased assumptions of what a cheerleader should be.

Leaving The Academy

If an athlete is wanting to leave Wildcatz Warriors, we ask for 1 months notice of their leaving date. If an athlete is wanting to leave Wildcatz Warriors within 2 months of a scheduled competition, we ask that the athlete remain with the club until after the competition has been attended.

Costs

One Off Costs

There is a £20 one-off sign up fee for any athlete wanting to join a recreational squad. This is a contribution towards additional costs incurred during sign up and will also provide the athlete with a Season 3 t-shirt for training and demonstration purposes should they take part in exhibitions.

There is a £45 one-off sign up fee for any athlete wanting to accept their place on a competition squad. This is a contribution towards additional costs incurred by extra training sessions and the creation of squad specific routine music, and will also provide the athlete with a Season 3 t-shirt for training and demonstration purposes.

Monthly Fees

The fees are payable 12 months a year even though the training sessions are conducted during term times only. This to create a low and affordable, regular and consistent payment.

Fees will be debited on the 1st of each month.

Any failed payments result in additional charges being made to the Academy. Please be advised that there will be admin fees added to failed payments.

Insurance

It is a requirement of many of the event providers that the athletes hold valid insurance. Insurance costs approximately £33 and can be purchased from Insure4sport.co.uk

Uniform Costs

Clothes should not restrict movement and should allow the athlete to move freely, therefore we encourage all athletes to wear the Wildcatz Warriors Cheerleading Academy training uniform or their Season 3 t-shirt. The cost of the training kit is approximately £50 however this is not compulsory.

Competition uniforms are required for any athlete attending a competition as part of one of our squads. The cost of the competition uniform and bow is from £82.50 to £132.50 depending on squad allocation.

Private Training Sessions/Guest Coaches

Attendance is not compulsory however we have found them useful in strengthening team relationships, developing skills and confidence building.

Competition Costs

The cost of the entry and spectator tickets will vary based on the competition host.

Each athlete is responsible for covering the cost of attending competitions. All athletes will also be responsible for making their way to and from the competition venue. Any fees paid for comps are non refundable.

Competitions

One of the main aspects of cheerleading is the competitions which occur throughout the year. What are competitions and what are they like?

Cheerleading competitions allow athletes to show off their new skills and routine to their family and friends under a competitive but fun atmosphere.

Competitions allow athletes to develop and grow as an athlete. This aspect of cheerleading gives athletes the confidence they need as the grow through the sport. They also provide athletes with the chance to watch higher level athletes and gives each athlete a personal goal they may wish to reach within the sport.

Competitions are a fun, supportive atmosphere which allows every athlete to ease any nerves they may have. Every athlete and family from your own gym will be there to encourage and support you throughout your routine.

Competitions are NOT scary at all. Once the music for your routine starts, it feels just like you’re in practice as an athletes focus will be on the routine and their team and not the audience present

Competitions allow teams to spend time together outside of practice. Friendships will develop both within your team and from outside your gym. This allows teams to grow closer to one another whilst being in a positive, supportive setting.

Although winning may be the athletes goal, teams do not need to win in order to have fun. No matter where teams place their families and their gym still show support and will be happy as long ad the team tried their best, as at the end of the day, that’s all anyone can ask.

Competitions give teams feedback on areas in which they may need to work on which allows the coaches to further develop athletes skills and the routine as a whole. This may allow the team to do better and score higher at the next competition with the feedback they were given.
