What an incredible Day at Wildcatz Warriors Academy!
Our amazing athletes have truly shown the heart and spirit of our academy. The athletes came together to create some beautifully decorated shoeboxes filled with lots of thoughtful gifts..from cosy socks and scented goodies to fun word searches.
These special gifts were hand delivered to every resident at Buckland Court Care Home, spreading joy and cheer throughout the day. Seeing the smiles and heartfelt reactions from the residents reminded us why communitee matters so much.
We are proud to be a united programme, coming together to support the local community with kindness and love.
A huge thank you to everyone who participated - you make this academy more than just a team, you make it a family.
This Christmas we decided it would be nice to give back. So we took part in a shoebox challenge to get as many shoeboxes filled with nice presents to give some to the old people in a Care Home in Amesbury.
We couldnt believe how many of the girls joined in and we ended up with a whole car and boot full!
When we got to the Care Home the old people were so happy to see us. Some came into the living room and some stayed in their rooms.
We were able to give every single person at the Care Home their very own shoebox.
It was a good feeling to know we could give a box to everyone and no-one missed out.
I hope we do it again next Christmas.
The Wildcatz Christmas Fete was nothing short of magical!! The community came together in the true spirit of the season to enjoyan afternoon filled with festive cheer, fun and generosity.
The highlight of the event wasSantas spectacular entrance....riding in on his motorbike!! Children and adults alike were thrilled to see the jolly man in red arrive in such style, setting the tone for the day of joy and celebration. Santa spent the day spreading Christmas magic, meeting families and creating memories to cherish.
Thanks to the incredible efforts of the Wildcatz Warriors, their supporters and everyone who attended, the fete rasied an impressive £494.83. This brings the athletes fundraising total to a fantastic £1442.15...a huge boost towards their goals.
A heartfelt thank you to everyone who contributed, from the organisers to the attendees. Your support helped make this event a huge success and highlight of the festive season.
The Wildcatz Warriors athletes are already looking forward to their next event, so stay tuned for more exciting opportunities to get involved!
Heres to the Wildcatz Warriors for spreading Christmas joy and making a difference....Cheer on!!
Competition Day is an emotional rollercoaster..and no matter how many competitions you have attended..it doesnt get any easier!!! An early morning start and late night finish doesnt help....
Quite quickly you work out where the best breakfast stops are at 6am in the morning..in full competition kit complete with curlers...no-one takes any notice because it becomes apparent that lots of other parents attending the comp have had the same idea!!
Watching your athlete perform on the floor whether for the 1st or the 100th time doesnt get any easier.....the nerves, the pride, the joy...sometimes the disappointment that they havent performed as well at they had hoped...its exhausting...and thats just for the spectators..its everything and more for the competing athletes.
Awards time is lovely to watch..all of the athletes become one and celebrate in the achievement of the different Wildcatz squads..even if they arent a part of it...it makes you realise that you arent just an individual who attends a club..you are a small but significant part of something bigger..a family.
Cheerleaders have to be thin
It is a common misconception that Cheerleaders have to be thin. Cheerleaders come in all shapes and sizes. Their skill and ability is more important than their size.
Cheerleaders are not athletes.
The skills required in Cheerleading leave no doubt that Cheerleaders are exceptional athletes. To perform their activities they must be as strong as any football player, as poised as any dancer and as flexible as the best gymnasts. They are athletes by every definition.
Cheerleading is for girls, not boys.
Cheerleading originated with men in 1884. It wasnt until 1923 that females were allowed to be Cheerleaders. The decline in male Cheerleaders was due to men joining the Military.
Male Cheerleaders play a significant part in Cheerleading.
Cheerleading is not a sport.
"An actvity including physical exertion and skill in which an individual or team competes against another or others for entertainment" (Oxford Dictionary)
According to the definition, Cheerleading is absolutely a sport.
Well for me, Im a Cheer Step-Mum, but its the best!! You dont just get to support your own athlete, you do it for the others too. You see them grow as people and as a group collectively.
Comp days are the best days!! I love all the glitz and glamour, the prep of the hair and make-up, seeing everyone come together to help one another.
Watching these athletes show up as fierce and strong Cheerleaders is amazing!! The courage it takes to get up and perform in front of the judges and other athletes is incredible and I take my hat off to all of them.
They become extra family....a Cheer family...and we love it!!
Being a Cheeleading parent is a whirlwind of excitement, commitment and pride. It involves early mornings and late nights, countless hours spent at practices, competitions and fundraisers.
Youre constantly on the move, whether driving to events or helping out with team activities.
Watching your athlete perform is a mix of nerves and joy as you know how much effort theyve put in.
Theres a sense of community with the other parents, sharing in the highs and lows of the season, and despite the time and energy it requires, seeing your childs confidence and teamwork grow, makes it all worthwhile.
Being a Cheer mum makes me really proud.
Watching my athletes confidence grow is amazing and I cant wait to watch her progress through each challenge.
This is very early days in our Cheer journey but I look forward to seeing more development and confidence performing in front of others.
Being a Cheer mum means you have to be able to cope with a rollercoaster of emotions....
There is only one thing that matches the ferocity of a Cheerleader and thats the Cheer parent supporting the club.. you dont just invest in your own athlete, you invest in the squad and the entire club.
Like it or not, you become imersed in a world of rhinestones, and glitter...a 5am alarm becomes common practice on Comp day, as does breakfast from a motorway servce station..
But, I wouldnt change a thing...its awesome being a Cheerleaders Cheerleader.
Being a Cheer parent is full of excitment and pride. Its thrilling to watch your child do something they are so passionate about with the support of the team. We as a family, have made so many wonderful friends along the way.
At the first competition. I was full of nerves, but upon arriving, the squad huddled together, getting the athletes ready, doing each others hair, there was a real sense of family...as they took to the stage, the parents came together, cheering them on...the buzz and the atmosphere was amazing.
As we enter Season 3, Im excited for watching my athlete take on new challenges and continue to grow.
We inspired 2.9 million phenomenal women to get active in all their sweaty, jiggly glory. Everyday women with relatable bodies gave judgement the finger and got moving in ways that worked for them.
But despite this progress, there is still more to do. Research shows that the pandemic and cost-of living crisis have had a disproportionate impact on women. Meaning they have less to spend on weekly budgets and less time to spend on themselves. As a result, their activity levels have fallen and show little sign of recovery. So how can we make a change?
2.4 million fewer women than men strongly agree that they enjoy getting active. We call this the enjoyment gap. And it’s up to all of us to close it.
The enjoyment gap is not inevitable and is completely fixable by challenging the practical and structural obstacles that make activity feel less welcoming for women. Focusing on making activity more safe, social, self-affirming and suitable for women.
With you, we will reshape women’s experiences to welcome all women with open arms. With you, we will challenge one another to act on women’s needs. With you, we will change so that no woman is left behind. With you, we can make a real difference to how women experience activity.
On Monday 12th Agust we welcomed Charlie Wilson to the gym for a skills clinic. Charlie brought with him an impressive background which includes Cheerleading in the US and extensive international coaching experience.
All of our athletes gained valuable knowledge on skills and drills necessary to "Level up"
